Controversial Ghanaian evangelist Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as Agradaa, has advised the youth and the general public to avoid actions that could lead them into trouble with the law, using her own prison experience as a cautionary lesson.

Speaking during an interview on Onua TV on Sunday, May 10, the founder of Heaven Way Champion International Ministry opened up about the difficult conditions she endured while incarcerated.

According to Agradaa, prison life is extremely harsh and should never be glorified by anyone.

“I went into prison for eight months and during those periods, I slept at 5:30, I scrubbed the gutters, I scrubbed the washrooms, and I carried blocks. Prison is real and it exists and so whatever you’re doing that may end you up in prison, stay away from it,” she stated.

The evangelist explained that the experience changed her perspective on life and made her appreciate freedom more deeply.

She also advised people involved in legal disputes to avoid allowing pride or stubbornness to worsen their situations.

“Don’t let anybody lie to you, don’t just do anything. If you have a case with anyone that leads to the courtroom, go on your knees and apologise because if you do not take care and act like you’re not guilty, you may end up in prison,” she added.

Agradaa further credited her husband and her faith in God for helping her survive the difficult period behind bars.

Drawing inspiration from the Bible, she compared her experience to the story of Moses delivering the Israelites from Pharaoh.

“And once you get to the prison… if not for God, who through my husband, just like he led Moses in the Bible to deliver the Israelites from the hands of Pharaoh, I’d still be in prison now,” she said.

She concluded by urging Ghanaians, especially young people, to cherish their freedom and be mindful of the choices they make in life.

Agradaa’s comments come months after her widely publicised legal troubles that dominated headlines across the country.

In July 2025, an Accra Circuit Court sentenced the former traditional priestess turned evangelist to 15 years’ imprisonment with hard labour after she was convicted for charlatanic advertisement and defrauding by false pretence.

The conviction was linked to a money-doubling scheme she allegedly promoted on television, where she claimed to possess spiritual powers capable of multiplying money for members of the public.

According to prosecutors, several victims were deceived into handing over money after believing her claims.

The case attracted massive public attention and sparked widespread debate on fraudulent spiritual practices and religious exploitation in Ghana.

However, Agradaa later secured relief after the Amasaman High Court reviewed the case and reduced her sentence from 15 years to 12 months, ruling that the original punishment was excessive, although the conviction itself was upheld.

Since her release, the evangelist has occasionally spoken publicly about the lessons she learned from the experience and the realities of prison life.

Her latest remarks have since generated mixed reactions online, with some people praising her for speaking honestly about prison conditions while others continue to debate the controversies surrounding her past activities.
