Kumawood actor Papa Kumasi has disclosed that comedian and actor Dr. Likee made a huge personal sacrifice to ensure the success of his comedy show held in the United Kingdom over the weekend.
Speaking in a recent interview sighted by Oneking Multimedia on Monday, May 25, Papa Kumasi revealed that Dr. Likee personally financed the event and even sold his own car to support the production and organisation of the show.

According to him, many people have created the impression that the successful event was heavily sponsored by external individuals or organisations, but he insisted that Dr. Likee carried the financial burden himself.
“Dr. Likee had to sell his own car just to sponsor the show. No one can sit anywhere and say it’s not true; the person should come out and prove that,” Papa Kumasi stated during the interview.
The actor explained that the team faced several financial challenges while preparing for the event, but Dr. Likee remained determined to make the show successful despite the difficulties. He praised the comedian’s commitment, sacrifice, and passion for promoting Ghanaian comedy on the international stage.
Papa Kumasi further disclosed that the overwhelming support from fans across different countries made all the sacrifices worthwhile. According to him, many supporters travelled from various parts of Europe and even from the United States to attend the comedy event in London.
He noted that the turnout and energy from the audience gave the team a sense of fulfilment and proved that Ghanaian comedy continues to gain international recognition and appreciation.
The Kumawood actor also used the opportunity to express gratitude to some prominent personalities who supported the team with encouragement, advice, and guidance ahead of the show.
Among the personalities he acknowledged were media personality and tourism advocate Abeiku Santana, politician Abla Dzifa Gomashie, and businessman Kwame Asare Obeng.
According to Papa Kumasi, these individuals stood by them and motivated them throughout the preparation process instead of discouraging them.

Dr. Likee, popularly known as Akabenezer, has become one of Ghana’s most influential comedy figures in recent years through his viral skits and online productions. His comedy productions have helped revive interest in Kumawood content on digital platforms, attracting millions of views from audiences both in Ghana and abroad.
The successful UK comedy show further highlights the growing global appeal of Ghanaian comedy and the dedication many entertainers continue to show in pushing local content beyond the country’s borders.
Papa Kumasi stressed that the event’s success was driven largely by Dr. Likee’s determination, sacrifice, and the unwavering support of fans who continue to believe in Ghanaian entertainment.
