Businessman Richard Nii Armah Quaye has announced plans to establish an educational scholarship scheme for brilliant but needy students from the Ga community, as part of his efforts to support education and youth development.
The proposed Richard Nii Armah Quaye scholarship is intended to provide financial assistance to talented students who have the academic ability to pursue their education but face difficulties due to financial constraints.
Mr Quaye made the announcement when he paid a courtesy call on the Ga Mantse, King tackiness Teiko Tsuru II, and the elders of the Ga community as part of activities marking this year’s Homowo celebrations.
During the visit, the businessman reaffirmed his connection to the Ga community and expressed his desire to contribute to its development, particularly by creating opportunities for young people.
Richard Nii Armah Quaye Scholarship to Support Ga Students
Mr Quaye explained that the scholarship initiative is driven by his commitment to ensuring that financial difficulties do not prevent academically talented Ga students from receiving an education.
“As you know, I’m a Ga. The community is really after my heart,” he said.
He recalled that he visited the Ga community the previous year to seek the blessings of his elders and indicated that he was now ready to introduce the educational initiative.
“I want to introduce an educational scholarship for brilliant but needy Ga students,” he stated.
According to Mr Quaye, the ultimate goal is to ensure that students who demonstrate academic potential are given the necessary support to remain in school and develop their talents.
“It is my wish that these brilliant students won’t be needy again. Once you’re brilliant, we will make sure we put you in school,” he added.
The Ga student scholarship is expected to target students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds within the Ga community once the initiative is formally launched.
Appeal to Ga Mantse and Community Elders
Mr Quaye also appealed to the Ga Mantse and traditional leaders to help create awareness about the planned scholarship scheme.
He urged the elders to communicate the initiative to members of the community so that deserving students and their families can learn about the opportunity ahead of its formal launch.
“So I’d plead with the Ga Mantse and the elders to make it known to all, so we launch it properly,” he said.
The appeal is expected to help ensure that information about the scholarship reaches students who may benefit from the programme.
Richard Nii Armah Quaye Supports Homowo Celebrations
Before his meeting with the Ga Mantse, Mr Quaye also donated assorted items to the Ga community as part of activities marking the annual Homowo celebrations.
His latest announcement adds an educational dimension to his support for the community, with the proposed scholarship scheme expected to provide assistance to students who might otherwise struggle to continue their education because of financial challenges.
The initiative, when formally launched, could provide an important opportunity for brilliant but needy Ga students to pursue their educational ambitions.
