Mr P accuses Jude Okoye of attempting to position himself as the “Don Jazzy” of P-Square, as the long-running dispute between the Okoye brothers takes another public turn.
Nigerian musician Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, made the allegation in a series of videos shared on social media, where he questioned his elder brother’s contribution to the success of the iconic music duo.
According to Peter, Jude Okoye wanted to be recognised as the mastermind behind P-Square’s achievements, similar to how Nigerian music executive and producer Don Jazzy was associated with the success of Mo’Hits.
Peter alleged that Jude became increasingly concerned about the influence and success of Mo’Hits, which was one of Nigeria’s dominant music labels during the 2000s.
Mr P Accuses Jude Okoye of Seeking P-Square Spotlight
Peter claimed that Jude expected him and his twin brother, Paul Okoye, popularly known as Rudeboy, to portray him as the key figure responsible for P-Square’s success.
“All Jude wanted was for Paul and me to project him as the Don Jazzy of P-Square,” Peter alleged.
He further claimed that Jude would sometimes answer questions directed at the twins during media interviews, which Peter interpreted as an attempt to establish himself as the public face and driving force behind the group.
Peter also challenged Jude’s contribution to P-Square’s music, arguing that his involvement became more significant only after the duo had already established themselves in the Nigerian music industry.
He maintained that he and Paul were heavily involved in producing P-Square’s albums, while several of the group’s memorable music videos were directed by renowned cinematographer Clarence Peters.
Peter also claimed that he was responsible for shooting some of the duo’s highly choreographed videos, including those for hit songs such as “Alingo,” “Shekina” and “Personally.”
The latest allegations form part of a renewed escalation of the long-running dispute between the Okoye brothers, whose relationship has repeatedly attracted public attention since P-Square’s split.
In a series of Instagram videos, Peter has made several allegations against his brothers, including claims of bullying, harassment and financial misconduct.
He has also alleged that his brothers worked together to take millions of dollars from him. According to Peter, the financial disagreement has become the subject of an Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) investigation as well as legal proceedings.
P-Square Family Dispute Continues
Peter also discussed tensions within the wider Okoye family, revealing that his mother and elder brother Henry initially opposed his relationship with his wife, Lola Omotayo.
He said the two eventually apologised to him but alleged that Paul and Jude did not.
Jude Okoye has since responded to Peter’s allegations in a video, denying the accusations levelled against him.
Meanwhile, Paul Okoye’s management has described the situation as a family matter and indicated that it would be handled responsibly.
The latest exchange adds another chapter to the highly publicised P-Square family dispute, with the brothers continuing to present different accounts of their history, contributions and disagreements.
As the allegations continue to unfold, fans of the Nigerian music duo remain divided over the claims, while the involvement of the EFCC and the courts could determine some of the outstanding financial issues surrounding the Okoye family.
