Ghanaian dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has publicly criticised members of his inner circle, claiming he bears the financial burden of sustaining the Shatta Movement while receiving little support from those closest to him.
The outspoken musician made the remarks during a TikTok Live session on Monday, August 3, 2026, just days after the disruption of ShattaFest UK, which was halted following a crowd surge that left several attendees requiring medical attention.
Expressing frustration, Shatta Wale said he is solely responsible for generating the money needed to keep the movement running, alleging that none of his team members contribute financially to its operations.
“They are all fools. I am the only person managing the entire Shatta Movement, and no one gives me money. No one in my crew can say they bring in money. They are always there, and I am the one who goes out to look for money to support them and keep the team going,” he said.
According to the award-winning artiste, he has consistently created opportunities for people within his camp, but many have failed to take advantage of them.
He claimed that even when he introduces members of his team to influential individuals who could support the movement financially, they are unable to secure meaningful partnerships or business opportunities.
“When I send them to the house of a billionaire, they can’t even bring me money. Even the fans create opportunities for me, yet the people closest to me can’t do anything to help me,” he added.
Shatta Wale also directed criticism at his longtime public relations manager, Sammy Flex, accusing him of failing to use his media platforms effectively to promote the Shatta Wale brand.
The dancehall star specifically questioned the editorial direction of Sammy Flex TV, arguing that the podcast spends too much time discussing fellow dancehall artiste Stonebwoy instead of focusing on matters related to the Shatta Movement.
According to Shatta Wale, he had previously advised Sammy Flex to reduce discussions about Stonebwoy but believes that advice has been ignored.
“Recently, I was talking to Sammy Flex. I told him to stop talking about Stonebwoy on the podcast every single day. He still thinks we are in the radio era. He doesn’t understand the podcast he is doing,” he stated.
His comments have generated significant reactions on social media, with many fans debating whether the artiste’s public criticism of his own team could create further divisions within the Shatta Movement.
The latest outburst also comes in the aftermath of the ShattaFest UK incident, where organisers temporarily halted the event after a crowd surge at the entrance prompted an emergency response. Although organisers initially described the situation as a temporary pause, the disruption attracted widespread attention and sparked discussions about event management and crowd safety.
Shatta Wale’s latest remarks add another chapter to the ongoing fallout from the UK event, while raising fresh questions about the internal dynamics of one of Ghana’s most influential music movements.
Neither Sammy Flex nor other members of the Shatta Movement have publicly responded to the artiste’s comments.
