Ghanaian highlife artiste Kofi Kinaata has reacted to the recently announced 28-man squad for the Ghana national football team ahead of their international friendly against Wales national football team, expressing disappointment over the omission of some key players.
The squad, announced on May 25 ahead of the June 2 encounter, immediately sparked widespread reactions across social media, with many football fans questioning the absence of players such as Joseph Paintsil, Felix Afena-Gyan and Derrick Köhn.

Adding his voice to the growing debate on Tuesday, May 26, Kofi Kinaata took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to suggest that he believes the squad list may not be the final one.
“I’m not sure this is the final list, though 90% of them will make it.. waiting for the final list with Paintsil, Afena Gyan & Kohn. Medaase!” he wrote.
The post quickly generated reactions from football supporters, with many agreeing with the musician’s concerns and calling for the inclusion of players they believe deserve a place in the team based on current form and performances at club level.
Since the squad announcement, fans and pundits have continued to debate the selections, with discussions largely centred around merit, consistency and the need for stronger attacking options ahead of future international assignments.
The Black Stars are currently preparing for their friendly match against Wales as part of preparations toward upcoming international competitions, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.
Head coach Carlos Queiroz has previously stated that only deserving and committed players would earn places in the national team setup.
However, the omission of some notable names has continued to fuel public discussion, especially among supporters who believe certain players have performed consistently well for their clubs this season.
Joseph Paintsil, Felix Afena-Gyan and Derrick Köhn have all enjoyed periods of strong performances in their respective leagues, leading many fans to expect their inclusion in the squad.

Kofi Kinaata’s reaction adds to the increasing involvement of Ghanaian celebrities and public figures in conversations surrounding the national team and football selections.
The Black Stars remain one of the most passionately followed national teams in Ghana, with squad announcements often generating strong reactions and nationwide debate among supporters.
As anticipation builds ahead of the Wales friendly, many fans continue to wait for what they hope could be adjustments or additions to the final team list.
