Fresh off his latest triumph at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards 2026, reigning Artiste of the Year Black Sherif has expressed confidence in his ability to make history by becoming the first Ghanaian artiste to win the prestigious award three times.
Speaking during an interview on TV3 on Monday, May 11, the award-winning musician stated that his consistency, dedication, and work ethic make the achievement possible.

During the interview, host Cookie Tee pointed out that no artiste in Ghana’s music industry has won the Artiste of the Year award three times since the inception of the awards scheme.
She noted that Black Sherif has now joined a select group of Ghanaian music stars, including Sarkodie, Stonebwoy and VVIP, who have each won the award twice.
When asked whether he believes he can become the first artiste to secure a third Artiste of the Year title, Black Sherif responded with confidence.
“It’s possible, most definitely possible because I’m still working. We won the award on Sunday, and we’re back to work on Monday. We are still working, it’s 100% possible,” he stated.
His comments have since generated excitement among fans, many of whom believe the “Iron Boy” hitmaker has already established himself as one of the most influential musicians of his generation.
Black Sherif’s latest victory at TGMA 2026 further cemented his dominance in Ghana’s music industry following another successful year filled with hit songs, major performances, and strong streaming numbers both locally and internationally.
At this year’s awards, the musician emerged as one of the biggest winners of the night, taking home multiple awards, including the coveted Artiste of the Year title.
Known for his emotionally charged storytelling and unique blend of highlife, drill, and afro-fusion sounds, Black Sherif has built a loyal fan base across Africa and beyond.
During the interview, the musician also opened up about the songs he believes best represent his identity and artistry.

Asked which tracks a first-time listener should hear to truly understand him as an artiste, Black Sherif mentioned some of his personal favourites from his growing catalogue.
According to him, songs such as Changes, Sacrifice, Oil In My Head and Soja best capture his personality, journey, and musical depth.
The musician explained that these records reflect different sides of his life experiences, struggles, ambitions, and perspectives.
Fans online have since praised his confidence and commitment to hard work, with many predicting that he could indeed become the first artiste in TGMA history to win the top award three times if he maintains his current momentum.
As his influence continues to grow both in Ghana and internationally, Black Sherif’s ambition to make history appears increasingly realistic.
