President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, has expressed deep concern over the growing injury problems affecting the Ghana national football team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
With the global tournament only months away, several key players have been sidelined, raising anxiety among supporters and officials alike.

Head coach Otto Addo has been dealt a significant blow following the confirmation that defender Mohammed Salisu will miss the tournament due to an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.
In addition, midfielders Abu Francis and Mohammed Kudus, along with a few other squad members, are currently undergoing treatment at their respective clubs.
The mounting injuries have sparked widespread concern among Ghanaian fans, who fear the team’s preparations could be disrupted.
Speaking in an interview with the GFA Media team, Kurt Okraku acknowledged the worrying situation but maintained a hopeful outlook.
“I’m concerned, and everybody is concerned about the number of players in the medical room as you speak now. But I’m very positive. I’m a very positive person,” he stated.
He added that the association remains committed to doing everything within its power to support the team’s recovery and preparation efforts.
“I always believe that everything and anything is possible, and our job is to work as much as we can. Our job is to pray as much as we can for the Almighty God to bless us, and we leave the rest to Him.

“We’ll do our part, and we know that our part will be enough to make Ghana proud.”
Despite the setbacks, the Black Stars are expected to begin preparations for the World Cup next month with two high-profile international friendlies against Austria and Germany.
The matches are expected to serve as key test fixtures as Otto Addo assesses squad depth and fitness levels ahead of the tournament.
With time still on their side, the GFA and the technical team will be hoping for positive injury updates in the coming weeks as Ghana aims to mount a strong campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
