The Ministry of Education has announced that the 2026 Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) results will be released on Friday, September 4.
The announcement comes after delays in the placement process caused by thousands of qualified candidates who were unable to upload their information onto the CSSPS platform within the initial deadline.
Speaking on the Joy FM Super Morning Show on Thursday, September 3, Press Secretary and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Education, Hashmin Mohammed, confirmed that the placement process has been completed and the Ministry is ready to publish the results.
“We are set to release the placement results tomorrow [Friday],” Mr Mohammed said.
Why the CSSPS Results Were Delayed
According to Mr Mohammed, the Ministry had initially intended to release the placement results the previous week.
However, officials discovered that a significant number of candidates had not been able to upload their required information onto the CSSPS system.
He explained that the number of affected candidates was substantial, prompting the Ministry to extend the deadline to give them another opportunity to complete the process.
“When we thought we could release it as of last week, unfortunately, we had some students who were unable to load their data into the CSSPS system. And then, looking at the number, the number was huge,” he explained.
The Ministry said the decision was based on the need to ensure fairness and equity in the placement process.
About 18,000 Candidates Complete Data Upload
Mr Mohammed disclosed that approximately 20,000 candidates had initially been unable to upload their data when the deadline was extended.
Following the extension, about 18,000 of those candidates successfully entered their information into the system.
“As I am speaking to you now, we’ve had about 18,000 who have inputted their data into the system,” he disclosed.
He explained that the Ministry considered it important to give the affected candidates additional time because qualified candidates are expected to receive placement into second-cycle institutions.
“If we are operating on an equity-based system, we needed to offer them the opportunity to extend the date so that they would be able to upload their data into the system for them to be placed into a school,” he said.
Remaining Candidates Are From Special Needs Schools
Mr Mohammed said the approximately 2,000 candidates who had not gone through the regular upload and choice confirmation process are students from special needs schools.
According to him, these candidates are treated differently because they do not need to complete the same school choice confirmation process as other candidates.
“The remaining 2,000, we know where they are. They are the special needs schools. And special needs schools, they don’t need to go through the choice confirmation,” he explained.
He added that the schools will provide the Ministry with the relevant lists, after which the candidates will be manually placed into the CSSPS system.
“Their schools only give us the list, and then we place them manually into the system because their schools are already defined,” he said.
CSSPS Results Set for Release
With the additional time granted to affected candidates and the placement process now completed, the Ministry of Education says it is fully prepared to release the results.
The announcement will be closely watched by thousands of BECE candidates and their families who have been waiting to find out which senior high school or other second-cycle institution they have been placed in.
The release of the CSSPS results on Friday, September 4, is expected to bring an end to the uncertainty surrounding the placement process and allow successful candidates to begin preparations for admission to their respective schools.
