Ghanaian music star Black Sherif has returned with a new EP titled Sun Sherif, a project that offers listeners a deeper look into his relationship with love, life, intimacy and self-discovery.
The project marks another significant chapter in the 24-year-old artiste’s rapidly evolving career. Built around themes of resilience and personal reflection, Sun Sherif sees Black Sherif exploring a more vulnerable and affectionate side of his artistry while maintaining the powerful storytelling and melodic identity that have made him one of Ghana’s most influential young musicians.
The EP is led by “Love Again,” featuring Trinidadian artiste Full Blown. The song introduces the softer and more emotionally open direction of the project.
Speaking about the inspiration behind Sun Sherif, Black Sherif revealed that much of the affection he has experienced has come from distant places, both physically and emotionally.
He explained that this has made it difficult for him to receive and maintain love and intimacy, despite deeply craving them. According to the artiste, the project provides listeners with a glimpse into that personal struggle.
A New Chapter After ‘Iron Boy’- Black Sherif
Sun Sherif follows his previous project Iron Boy, which explored themes of resilience, self-preservation and the emotional consequences of sudden fame.
While Iron Boy largely reflected the pressure and challenges associated with his rapid rise, Sun Sherif introduces more warmth and vulnerability without abandoning the urgency that has defined his music.
“Expresso” remains close to the emotional territory of Iron Boy, addressing the instability that can accompany fast success. Black Sherif reflects on loneliness, excess, risk and the personal cost of maintaining strength in an increasingly demanding environment.
“Run Around” shifts the focus towards romance, presenting love as a desire to be understood and emotionally connected.
Meanwhile, “Jolie” offers perhaps the clearest expression of devotion on the project, with Black Sherif embracing tenderness while maintaining the distinctive sound and lyrical depth associated with his music.
Faith, Love and Personal Battles
On “Forever,” featuring AraTheJay, Black Sherif returns to the spiritual elements that have frequently appeared in his songwriting.
The song presents solitude from a different perspective, portraying faith as a source of protection rather than evidence of isolation.
The EP’s harder-edged record, “Frontline,” continues the artist’s exploration of personal struggles. The song touches on betrayal, money, pride and the constant pressure of remaining prepared for whatever comes next.

He was also dressed by Christian Louboutin for the brand’s event with GQ during BRIT Awards week.
More recently, Black Sherif released “Find A Way” as part of PUMA’s World Cup campaign celebrating Ghana’s participation in the FIFA World Cup.
