“I Can Stop Music Today and Still Be Rich” – Kuami Eugene Opens Up on Royalties

Award-winning Ghanaian musician Kuami Eugene has revealed that he is financially stable enough to survive comfortably even if he decides to quit music today.

Speaking in an interview with Headless YouTuber, the “Angela” hitmaker explained that the income he earns from music features, publishing, and performance royalties is enough to sustain both himself and his family for years to come.

According to Kuami Eugene, his investments in music and the success of songs he has featured on continue to generate steady revenue, making him financially secure despite the unpredictable nature of the entertainment industry.

“Yes, so right now as I dey here, if I say I’m not going to sing again, the features alone can take care of my mom,” he said confidently during the interview.

“One day if I’m not there, my features alone, my mum is okay,” he added.

The singer’s comments have since sparked widespread conversations online about the importance of royalties, publishing rights, and intellectual property ownership in Ghana’s music industry.

Many fans and industry observers have praised him for speaking openly about financial literacy and long-term planning as an artiste.

Kuami Eugene also opened up about his current business relationship with Lynx Entertainment following his exit from the label.

According to him, although Lynx Entertainment still owns the masters to some of the projects they funded during his time with the label, he continues to receive a percentage of the revenue generated from the music.

“So it’s 50-50 with everything I make. Everything I worked on with them, because they own the masters,” he explained.

The “Monica” hitmaker further clarified that while the label maintains ownership of some masters, it does not completely control his intellectual property rights. He disclosed that earnings from publishing and performance rights continue to bring him consistent income.

Kuami Eugene’s revelations have reignited discussions about how musicians can secure their future through proper management of royalties and copyrights.

In recent years, conversations around music ownership and publishing rights have become increasingly important in Ghana’s entertainment space, especially as many artistes seek financial independence beyond performances and endorsements.

The singer, who rose to fame under Lynx Entertainment, has built an impressive catalogue of hit songs over the years, becoming one of Ghana’s most successful contemporary musicians.

His ability to generate income from features and royalties highlights the growing value of intellectual property in the digital music era.
