Ghanaian dancehall star Shatta Wale has revealed that he would consider contesting the parliamentary seat for Ablekuma South if residents call on him to do so ahead of the 2028 Ghana general elections.
The musician, whose real name is Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., made the comments during an interview on Asempa FM on Wednesday, March 11.

According to him, entering politics is something he could consider in the future if the demand from the public becomes strong, particularly from people within the constituency.
“If people call on me to enter politics, I will do it. I will contest the Ablekuma South seat, but I don’t want to belong to any political party. It will be more as an independent candidate,” he said.
The award-winning artiste explained that his potential move into politics would be driven by a desire to serve the public rather than personal enrichment.
“I am not coming into it because I want to be rich; rather, I want to serve the interests of the people,” he added.
Shatta Wale also emphasised that timing would play a crucial role in any political ambition he might pursue.
According to him, the political environment in Ghana can sometimes attract criticism or controversy when individuals announce new ambitions, but he believes the right moment will determine his decision.
“Ghana is a funny country. Sometimes, when you decide to do something, that is when you have some people talk here and there. But I believe at the right time, things will fall in place,” he stated.

The dancehall star further indicated that if he eventually decides to enter politics, his campaign would be guided by clear policies aimed at improving governance and development in the constituency.
Despite the comments, Shatta Wale stressed that his primary focus at the moment remains his personal life and music career.
However, he did not rule out the possibility of stepping into public service in the future if circumstances and public support align with his vision.
