Black Stars defender Tariq Lamptey has completed a four-year move to Italian Serie A side Fiorentina in a deal worth £6 million.
The 23-year-old right-back joins from Brighton & Hove Albion, where he made over 100 appearances since signing from Chelsea in 2020. Fiorentina confirmed the deal on transfer deadline day, adding depth and versatility to their defensive options.

Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler praised Lamptey for his professionalism during his time at the club:
“He’s been a valued player throughout his time, but more than that he is a brilliant professional and person. This is a good opportunity for him to play both Serie A and European football. On behalf of everyone at the club I’d like to wish him all the very best for the future.”
At Fiorentina, Lamptey will provide competition for Brazilian wing-back Dodô, but his ability to operate on both flanks gives coach Vincenzo Italiano greater tactical flexibility. His pace and attacking flair make him a valuable addition as the Viola prepare for a busy campaign across domestic and European competitions.
While Lamptey impressed at Brighton with his direct runs and energy, injuries hampered his consistency. He managed only 15 Premier League appearances last season, though he still contributed two goals and several assists.

The move to Italy offers him a fresh start and the chance to revive his career at the top level.
Lamptey remains an important part of the Ghana national team setup. He has been named in Otto Addo’s 24-man Black Stars squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Chad on September 4 and Mali on September 8. His transfer to Fiorentina could see him arrive in camp with renewed confidence ahead of the crucial fixtures.
