He said the family should have handled its differences privately instead of allowing them to attract widespread public attention.

“I want to apologise to Ghanaians for the embarrassment we caused our father and how our issues went public. He doesn’t deserve this.”

Akofena refuses to blame family members

While Kwadwo Safo Akofena apologised to Ghanaians, he refused to single out any member of the family for blame.

According to him, everyone involved must accept responsibility for allowing the disagreements to escalate and become public.

“I will not blame anyone for what has happened. We are all at fault, so I seek forgiveness,” he stated.

His comments appear to signal an effort to move away from accusations and focus instead on reconciliation within the family.

Akofena apologises before 15,000 people

Akofena also revealed that he had already taken steps to apologise publicly to members of his church.

According to him, he knelt before a congregation of approximately 15,000 people during a church service and appealed for forgiveness.

“When I went to church yesterday, I knelt in front of almost 15,000 people to apologise. I told the whole church that we should let everything that has happened go.”

He said the gesture was intended to help bring an end to the controversy and encourage people to move beyond the disagreement.

‘Our father deserves more than this’

A major part of Akofena’s appeal centred on protecting the dignity and legacy of his father, Apostle Kwadwo Safo.

He stressed that the family’s disagreements should not overshadow the reputation of their father or the values he has built over the years.

“Our father deserves more than this,” he said.

Akofena described the situation as an unfortunate example of the fact that disagreements can happen in every family, regardless of social status or background.

“Things like this happen in every family and make us know that we’re humans and we have blood running through our veins. To err is human, no matter how great the person is or the kind of family you come from, you’re still human.”

Akofena asks Ghanaians for forgiveness

The Kristo Asafo Mission leader subsequently appealed to Ghanaians to forgive the family and allow them to resolve their differences away from the public eye.

“Ghanaians should forgive us,” he pleaded.

The apology comes amid heightened public interest in disagreements within the family. Akofena’s remarks suggest a desire to draw a line under the controversy and create room for reconciliation.

By accepting responsibility rather than blaming another family member, Kwadwo Safo Akofena’s apology could mark an important step towards resolving the matter privately.

He maintained that, like any other family, they are human and capable of making mistakes, but stressed that the dignity of their father should remain a priority.
