Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has sparked reactions on social media after sharing a light-hearted post following Ghana’s 1-0 defeat to Colombia, a result that ended the Black Stars’ campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The musician reacted shortly after Colombia secured victory to book their place in the Round of 16, while Ghana bowed out of the tournament despite a spirited performance.

Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) account, Shatta Wale jokingly suggested that he had predicted the outcome of the match because of the team’s goalkeeper selection.
“I told my wife if it’s that goalkeeper dierr they will score us quick.”
The post quickly gained traction online, attracting thousands of reactions from football fans and social media users.
While many supporters found the comment humorous and typical of Shatta Wale’s outspoken personality, others defended goalkeeper Lawrence Ati Zigi, insisting he should not be blamed for Ghana’s elimination.
Several fans pointed out that Ati Zigi made a number of important saves during the match to keep Ghana in contention for long periods before Colombia eventually found the breakthrough.
The defeat marked the end of Ghana’s World Cup journey after the Black Stars finished their group-stage campaign without securing a place in the knockout rounds. The result disappointed many supporters, who had hoped Ghana would build on their earlier performances and progress further in the competition.
Shatta Wale has consistently shown his passion for Ghanaian football, often using his social media platforms to celebrate victories, criticise performances, and interact with fans during major international tournaments.
His latest post has once again generated debate among football lovers, with opinions divided over whether the comment was simply harmless humour or unfair criticism of the goalkeeper.
As discussions continue online, many supporters have urged fans to rally behind the Black Stars despite the disappointment, expressing optimism that the team can learn valuable lessons and return stronger in future international competitions.
