James Gardiner has revealed that he does not believe in turning down movie roles, stressing that versatility is one of the most important qualities every actor must possess.
The actor and Deputy CEO of the National Film Authority explained that he is willing to take on different kinds of characters as long as the storyline makes sense.

“Except the story just doesn’t make sense,” he stated when asked whether there were certain movie roles he would refuse to play.
According to James Gardiner, acting is a profession that requires adaptability, making it necessary for performers to embrace a wide range of personalities and situations.
“Whatever role that you give me, I’m supposed to adapt. So I don’t think there’s ever a role that I would say no, I wouldn’t do it,” he explained.
The actor, however, admitted that there could sometimes be discussions about how certain characters are portrayed in order to improve authenticity and storytelling.
“We may talk about tweaking the character,” he added.
James Gardiner stressed that acting goes beyond personal comfort zones and demands flexibility from performers who want to succeed in the industry.
“But as an actor, you have to be versatile. So I don’t think I would say no,” he stated.
His comments reflect a growing mindset within the film industry that actors should be capable of handling diverse and evolving roles rather than limiting themselves to specific character types.
Over the years, James Gardiner has established himself as one of Ghana’s recognised actors through appearances in several Ghanaian films and television productions.
Aside from acting, he currently serves as Deputy CEO of the National Film Authority, where he contributes to efforts aimed at developing and promoting Ghana’s film industry.

His latest remarks have sparked conversations among movie lovers and industry stakeholders, with many agreeing that versatility remains one of the defining qualities of successful actors.
Others also noted that actors who embrace different roles often have greater opportunities to showcase their range and build long-lasting careers in the entertainment industry.
The discussion also highlights broader conversations within filmmaking circles about character development, storytelling and the expectations placed on actors in modern cinema.
As Ghana’s film industry continues to evolve, many industry players believe adaptability and creativity will remain crucial for actors hoping to stay relevant in an increasingly competitive entertainment space.
