Ghanaian comedian DKB has strongly criticised actor Prince David Osei over his recent comments on Ghana’s ongoing power outages, popularly known as dumsor.

The exchange follows Prince David Osei’s remarks suggesting that President John Dramani Mahama has become synonymous with dumsor due to recurring power supply challenges during his leadership.

Reacting on social media, DKB described the actor’s comments as selective and opportunistic, arguing that he remained silent during periods when electricity supply had improved.

“JM solved dumsor before leaving power… When JM kept the light on for one year straight, couldn’t you pass a comment?” DKB wrote.

The comedian also shifted blame to the former ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), claiming the country was pushed back into unstable electricity supply under their watch.

“Your NPP sent us back to dumsor, without a timetable 😂… It’s a system upgrade masa!” he added.

DKB ended his response with a sarcastic jab, repeating the phrase “system upgrade,” which has recently been used in public discussions surrounding power interruptions.

The exchange has since generated reactions online, with supporters of both entertainers debating responsibility for Ghana’s electricity challenges.

The issue of dumsor remains one of the most politically sensitive topics in Ghana, as previous years of prolonged outages affected businesses, homes, and the wider economy.

In recent weeks, complaints about intermittent blackouts in parts of the country have revived public frustration and renewed criticism of the energy sector.

Prince David Osei’s original comments drew attention because of his claim that Mahama’s name has become tied to power outages.

However, DKB’s response has added a political dimension to the debate, highlighting how electricity supply continues to be a major issue in national discourse.

Many social media users praised DKB for challenging what they saw as partisan criticism, while others defended Prince David Osei’s right to express concerns over current outages and rising electricity bills.

As public frustration over power supply continues, the back-and-forth between the two celebrities reflects how strongly the issue resonates with ordinary Ghanaians.

With recent outages and tariff concerns dominating headlines, discussions around dumsor are likely to remain a major talking point in both politics and entertainment circles.
