Otto Addo Names Black Stars Squad for Germany, Austria Friendlies

Head coach of the Ghana national football team, Otto Addo, has announced his squad for Ghana’s upcoming international friendlies against Germany and Austria, handing debut call-ups to four players as the team prepares for the matches later this month.

The four players receiving their maiden invitations to the national team are Derrick Luckassen, Patrick Pfeiffer, Marvin Senaya and Daniel Agyei.

Luckassen, a centre-back who currently plays for Pafos FC in Cyprus, is a graduate of the academy of AZ Alkmaar. Over the course of his career, he has featured for several European clubs including PSV Eindhoven, Hertha BSC, RSC Anderlecht, Kasımpaşa S.K., Fatih Karagümrük and Maccabi Tel Aviv. He recently helped Pafos win the 2024–25 Cypriot league title and also scored the club’s first goal in the UEFA Champions League.

Marvin Senaya, another new addition to the squad, plays for French Ligue 1 side AJ Auxerre. The defender previously played for RC Strasbourg, FC Sochaux and FC Lausanne-Sport, having made his professional debut in 2021.

Forward Daniel Agyei, who currently plays for Turkish club Kocaelispor, was born in England and began his professional career there. He has previously featured for clubs such as Leyton Orient, Crewe Alexandra, Oxford United and Burnley F.C. before moving to Turkey.

Defender Patrick Pfeiffer, who plays for German side SV Darmstadt 98, also earns his first invitation to the national team.

The squad also sees the return of several key players including Iñaki Williams, Ibrahim Sulemana, Thomas Partey and Alexander Djiku.

Ghana’s goalkeeping department will feature Lawrence Ati-Zigi of FC St. Gallen, Benjamin Asare from Accra Hearts of Oak and Joseph Anang of St Patrick’s Athletic F.C..

Other defenders in the squad include Jerome Opoku of İstanbul Başakşehir, Gideon Mensah of Auxerre and Derrick Köhn of Union Berlin.

In midfield, the team will rely on experienced players such as Thomas Partey alongside Elisha Owusu, Kwasi Sibo and Ibrahim Sulemana.

The attacking lineup includes notable names such as Jordan Ayew, Antoine Semenyo, Kamal Deen Sulemana and Abdul Fatawu Issahaku.

Ghana will first face Austria in Vienna on March 27 before travelling to Stuttgart to take on Germany on March 30, 2026, as the Black Stars continue preparations for upcoming international competitions.
