Mahama’s Words Inspire Dr Likee to Keep Acting

Popular Ghanaian comic actor Ebenezer Akwasi Antwi, widely known as Dr Likee, has revealed that encouragement from former President John Dramani Mahama renewed his passion for entertainment and convinced him not to quit the industry.

Speaking in an interview with Giovani Caleb on Showbiz 360, the celebrated comedian admitted that after years of producing films and digital skits, he had seriously considered stepping away from acting and comedy.

According to Dr Likee, the demanding nature of content creation, coupled with years of consistent output, had left him contemplating a complete withdrawal from the entertainment space. Despite his success and strong online following, he said there were moments when he questioned whether to continue.

However, his outlook changed dramatically following an unexpected encounter with Mr Mahama at an airport.

Recounting the experience, Dr Likee explained that the former President approached him warmly and shared something that took him by surprise. Mr Mahama reportedly told the actor that he regularly watches his content and genuinely enjoys his comic performances.

“He greeted me warmly and told me he watches my content and truly enjoys it,” Dr Likee recalled during the interview.

The remark, he said, left a lasting impression. For the actor, it was both shocking and deeply affirming to learn that someone with the responsibilities of leading a nation still made time to watch and appreciate his work.

According to Dr Likee, that brief but meaningful exchange proved transformative. At a time when he was preparing to step away from the industry, the President’s words served as a powerful reminder of the impact of his craft.

“It made me realise that what I do matters. If someone with such a demanding schedule still finds time to watch and laugh, then there must be value in it,” he said.

The encounter reassured him that his work resonates across all levels of society, including individuals occupying the highest public offices. For him, the experience underscored the importance of comedy not just as entertainment, but as a tool that brings joy and relief to people from all walks of life.

Dr Likee has built a strong reputation in Ghana’s film and digital content space, becoming one of the most recognizable faces in local comedy. Through skits and movies, he has cultivated a loyal fan base that eagerly anticipates his productions.

The actor noted that the encouragement from Mr Mahama rekindled his passion and strengthened his resolve to continue creating content for his audience. What began as a casual airport greeting ultimately became a defining moment in his career.

In an industry where creators often face criticism, fatigue, and uncertainty, Dr Likee’s story highlights the power of affirmation and support. Sometimes, a few sincere words of appreciation can reignite purpose and inspire continued excellence.

For Dr Likee, the message was clear: his work matters—and he is not stepping away anytime soon.
