Ex-One Entertainment Sues Two Former Miss Western Ghana Contestants for Defamation

Organisers of the Miss Western Ghana beauty pageant, Ex-One Entertainment, have initiated a defamation lawsuit against two former contestants over alleged false and damaging statements made on social media against the company, its leadership, and the pageant brand.

The respondents named in the suit are Emmanuella Owusuaa Tikoli, a 23-year-old contestant who participated in the 2025 edition of the pageant under the stage name Nuella, and Audrey Whitney Damoah Appiah, a former Second Runner-Up in the 2023 Miss Western Ghana competition.

According to court documents, the lawsuit stems from a series of social media posts allegedly made by Tikoli following the August 2025 grand finale of the Miss Western Ghana pageant. Ex-One Entertainment claims Tikoli accused the eventual winner, Esaaba, of engaging in sexual relations with members of the organising team in order to secure the 2025 crown and the accompanying BMW car prize.

Management of Ex-One Entertainment has categorically denied the allegations, describing them as false, malicious, and entirely without evidence. The company argues that the claims were calculated to damage the credibility of the pageant and undermine public confidence in its operations.

Tikoli is also accused of using her TikTok platform to refer to the Chief Executive Officer of Ex-One Entertainment, Mr. Isaac Mensah, as a “scam,” while further questioning the integrity and legitimacy of the Miss Western Ghana brand.

In a related allegation cited in the same suit, Audrey Whitney Damoah Appiah is accused of making defamatory remarks during a TikTok Live session hosted by Tikoli on her handle Queen Nuella. During the broadcast, Appiah allegedly described the organisers of Miss Western Ghana as “thieves.”

The accusations are particularly notable given Appiah’s professional relationship with Ex-One Entertainment after her participation in the pageant. Following her Second Runner-Up finish in 2023, she was engaged by the company as a co-host for the Miss Western Ghana pageant in 2024 and 2025, served as a presenter for Ex-One’s talent reality show X-Icons, and reportedly secured additional television opportunities through the company’s recommendations.

Speaking on behalf of Ex-One Entertainment, Manager Ato Kwamina Otoo expressed deep disappointment over the alleged comments, noting that they came from individuals who had either participated in or benefited from the Miss Western Ghana platform.

He emphasised that Miss Western Ghana is more than a beauty pageant, describing it as a social empowerment initiative focused on equipping underprivileged young women with technical and vocational skills to promote financial independence.

Mr. Otoo stressed that protecting the integrity of the platform is essential to preserving public trust and ensuring opportunities for future contestants.

Ex-One Entertainment has reaffirmed its commitment to professionalism, transparency, fairness, and accountability, stating that it will pursue all available legal remedies to protect its reputation and that of its stakeholders.

Management insists that unfounded and defamatory allegations, particularly those made publicly on social media, will not be allowed to undermine the mission, values, and credibility of the Miss Western Ghana brand.

The case is expected to further spark conversations around responsible social media use, accountability, and reputation management within Ghana’s entertainment and pageantry industry.
