Ned Nwoko Says He Will Not Take Back Estranged Wife Regina Daniels

Delta North Senator Ned Nwoko has firmly stated that he will not take back his estranged wife, Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, amid a growing public controversy surrounding their marital breakdown.

The lawmaker issued a detailed statement on Instagram on Tuesday, categorically denying any ongoing communication with her and stressing that the only condition he insists upon is for Regina to undergo therapy.

In his statement, Nwoko sought to clarify what he described as misinformation circulating online. He explained the circumstances surrounding their separation, providing screenshots of what he said was his final WhatsApp exchange with Regina Daniels on October 17. According to him, the messages were released to shed light on his position and the ultimatum he had given her regarding drug rehabilitation.

Nwoko alleged that Regina had been “completely under the influence of hard drugs,” a situation he claimed had triggered a series of violent and irrational behaviours. These incidents, he said, had made it impossible for him to continue the marriage or maintain a stable home environment.

“Senator Ned Nwoko is not chatting with Regina and does not want her back in the house. All he is insisting on is that she should be encouraged to go to therapy,” the official statement read. The senator emphasised that he had no interest in rekindling the marriage unless she takes meaningful steps to address what he describes as serious behavioural concerns.

The public nature of the dispute intensified after Regina Daniels reportedly made allegations suggesting drug abuse and sexual misconduct within the marriage. However, Nwoko dismissed these claims as baseless and a “figment of her imagination,” insisting they could never be substantiated. According to him, the actress’s behaviour and accusations stem from her alleged drug influences rather than factual events.

This controversy has quickly become a major talking point in both political and entertainment circles across Nigeria and beyond. As a prominent politician and businessman, Nwoko has often been the subject of public debate, especially regarding his personal life and marriage to the much younger Nollywood star. Their union, which initially sparked widespread criticism due to the significant age gap between them, has remained a constant topic of media scrutiny.

In his recent statement, Nwoko sought to remove any ambiguity regarding his stance. He claimed that he had made considerable efforts in the past to manage Regina’s behaviour, protect her image, and offer support during difficult episodes. However, he said that the situation had reached a point where professional intervention was the only viable path forward.

By releasing what he described as his final WhatsApp exchange with her, Nwoko aimed to demonstrate that he has disengaged from the relationship and is no longer involved in private communication with the actress. The alleged message exchange reportedly shows him urging Regina to seek rehabilitation, highlighting the seriousness of the situation.

The senator’s position has drawn mixed reactions from the public. Supporters argue that encouraging therapy is a responsible move, particularly if the allegations of drug abuse are true. Critics, however, believe that airing marital issues publicly can further complicate the emotional and psychological dynamics involved, especially given Regina Daniels’ young age and status as a public figure.

Meanwhile, Regina Daniels has yet to issue an official response addressing Nwoko’s detailed statement. Her silence has left room for speculation, with fans and observers awaiting her version of events and clarity regarding the allegations made by her estranged husband.

The situation continues to unfold as Nigerians debate the broader implications of the controversy. Many have raised concerns about the intersection of power, marriage, mental health, and public accountability—topics that frequently surface in high-profile unions involving celebrities and politicians.

For now, Senator Ned Nwoko maintains that reconciliation is off the table, and his focus is solely on ensuring that Regina Daniels receives appropriate mental health and behavioural support through therapy. The public awaits further developments as both parties navigate the escalating dispute.
