Jelvis Foundation Extends Free WiFi to Effia and Effiakuma in Phase 2 Rollout

In a bold stride toward digital inclusion, the Jelvis Foundation, under the leadership of Mr. Jelvis Kwame Baidoo, has launched Phase 2 of its Free WiFi project, extending coverage into new areas of Effia and Effiakuma.

This initiative, which began earlier in May 2025, is part of the foundation’s long-term goal to bridge the digital divide in under-resourced communities in the Western Region of Ghana.

The announcement was made via Mr. Baidoo’s official Facebook page, where he shared a detailed satellite map showing marked areas set to benefit from this second phase. These include high-traffic and community-centered locations such as Effia Market, Fidelity Bank Effiakuma, Effiakuma Frafra Line, Effia Methodist Church, and many others.

“If you see your area on this map, get ready to connect for free!” — Jelvis Baidoo

This exciting update builds on the momentum generated from Phase 1, which successfully brought free, stable internet access to parts of Effiakuma including Afraa and Roman Gate, . With more people gaining access, the foundation is now anticipating real stories of lives transformed — from job creation and student research to digital content creation and beyond.

The Free2Connect initiative by the Jelvis Foundation isn’t just about laying internet infrastructure — it’s about connecting dreams to opportunity.

In areas like Effia and Effiakuma, many talented individuals lack reliable access to data and online platforms. Whether it’s students needing resources for project work, job seekers looking for remote roles, or budding creators trying to upload videos, poor internet access has been a longstanding barrier.

Mr. Baidoo hopes that this free access will level the playing field.

“We want to hear testimonies like, ‘I got my first remote job because of the Jelvis WiFi,’ or ‘This helped me complete my final-year project.’ That’s the dream,” he stated in an earlier media interaction.

What sets this project apart is the Jelvis Foundation’s deep community roots. The WiFi access points have been installed in strategic locations where people naturally gather — markets, washing bays, banks, schools, and churches — ensuring that users from all walks of life can benefit.

Some of the new Phase 2 coverage areas include:

  • Effia Market
  • Effiakuma Seventh Day Adventist Church
  • Luqman Healing Center
  • Kitchen Inn area
  • Azumi Indomie Joint
  • Mace Lodge
  • Effiakuma Frafra Line
  • Best B Lodge

By targeting both social and business hubs, the project makes access practical and widespread.

In addition to access, the Jelvis Foundation is exploring partnerships with local educators and ICT professionals to introduce digital skills training. The foundation believes that internet access without education on how to use it effectively will limit the initiative’s impact.

Workshops will soon be introduced in collaboration with community centers, helping users:

  • Learn basic ICT skills
  • Safely explore educational content
  • Apply for jobs online
  • Launch YouTube channels and online businesses

Looking ahead, Mr. Baidoo has hinted at Phase 3, which could expand the project beyond Takoradi to nearby towns and suburbs. The ultimate vision is to make digital equity a reality across the region.

Community leaders, local pastors, and youth organizers have already started engaging with the foundation to assist with the outreach and maintenance of the access points, showing a collective spirit of ownership around the project.

The Jelvis Foundation Free WiFi initiative stands as a beacon of innovation, compassion, and practical development. By connecting underserved neighborhoods to the digital world, the foundation is also connecting individuals to knowledge, income, and possibilities.

For the youth in Effia or Effiakuma who once struggled to afford data, this is more than just a network connection — it’s a chance to rewrite their future.

As Mr. Jelvis Baidoo put it:

“One hotspot at a time, we are connecting our people to the world.”
