Sannie Daara Urges Patience with Otto Addo Until After World Cup Qualifiers

Former Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Ibrahim Sannie Daara, has urged Ghanaians to remain patient with Black Stars head coach Otto Addo until after the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Ghana currently sit top of Group I with 19 points, three points ahead of second-placed Madagascar. The team needs just four points from its remaining two fixtures to secure a spot at the World Cup.

Despite this strong position, Otto Addo has faced heavy criticism. Several football stakeholders, including Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams, have openly voiced dissatisfaction with his performance. The criticism stems largely from Ghana’s failure to qualify for this year’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after enduring a six-game winless streak.

Speaking to Asempa FM, Sannie Daara stressed the need for stability and consistency as Ghana approaches the final stages of qualification.

“We have to be patient. It will be a wrong timing to change the coach with two matches to go. We should manage the situation until after the World Cup qualifiers,” he said.

The Black Stars are set to face the Central African Republic and Comoros in October’s international window—fixtures that could seal Ghana’s place at the 2026 tournament.

Sannie believes making a coaching change at this stage would be disruptive and could derail Ghana’s qualification hopes.

His comments come amid growing debate over whether Otto Addo should remain in charge beyond the qualifiers, especially given the team’s struggles in major competitions.
