Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has thrown a challenge to striker Inaki Williams to strengthen his understanding with the team as Ghana prepares for next year’s FIFA World Cup campaign.
Williams, who has managed just two goals in 25 appearances for Ghana since switching allegiance from Spain in 2022, missed the team’s recent qualifiers against the Central African Republic and Comoros due to injury.
Speaking to Joy Sports, Addo admitted that while Williams possesses great quality, both the player and the technical team must work harder to unlock his full potential within the Black Stars setup.
“We have to find a better connection with him, and he has to adapt better with the squad,” Addo explained. “I also have to find the best position for him. If we all work on that, we’ll benefit because he has the quality.”
The Athletic Bilbao forward made his Ghana debut ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar but has since struggled to replicate his club form on the international stage.
Addo, however, remains optimistic that Williams can turn things around once he fully settles into the team’s tactical system and builds stronger chemistry with key players like Mohammed Kudus and Jordan Ayew.
Football analysts believe that Inaki’s pace and physicality could be vital for Ghana in the upcoming qualifiers, provided he receives the right support and tactical adjustments.
