Antoine Semenyo Named Bournemouth Player of the Month for August

Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo has been voted AFC Bournemouth’s Michael Matthews Jewellers Player of the Month for August, after an electrifying start to the 2025/26 Premier League campaign.

The 25-year-old striker wasted no time in making his mark this season, scoring a stunning brace in Bournemouth’s opening fixture, a thrilling 4-2 defeat against Liverpool at Anfield. One of his goals, a dazzling solo strike, has already been shortlisted for the Premier League Goal of the Month award.

Semenyo’s influence extended beyond scoring. In the following match, he provided a decisive assist in the 1-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers, setting up Marcus Tavernier’s early strike that secured all three points for Andoni Iraola’s men.

He continued to impress with his tireless performance in the 3-2 away win against Tottenham Hotspur, where his energy and attacking presence proved vital, even though he did not get on the scoresheet.

Bournemouth supporters recognised his consistency and impact, voting him as the club’s first Player of the Month winner of the new season. The accolade highlights Semenyo’s growing importance in Iraola’s system and underlines his reputation as one of the Premier League’s most exciting forwards.

With two goals, one assist, and a nomination for Goal of the Month already under his belt, Semenyo has set the tone for what promises to be a standout season, both for himself and for the Cherries.
