The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the provisional results for the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates, Second Series.
A total of 41,767 candidates registered for the examination. This included 20,036 males and 24,501 females, as well as 16 visually impaired candidates and seven hearing-impaired candidates. However, 2,422 registered candidates were absent during the examination period.

WAEC announced that the full results of 348 candidates and the subject results of 469 others have been withheld due to alleged examination malpractice. The cases include collusion, impersonation, possession of foreign materials, and seeking external assistance during the examination.
According to the Council, the affected results will either be released or cancelled after investigations are completed. WAEC emphasized that due process will be followed before any final decision is taken.
In terms of performance, the results show that 67.43% of candidates obtained grades A1 to C6 in English Language. In Core Mathematics, 49.84% achieved similar passes. Integrated Science recorded 35% of candidates attaining grades within the A1–C6 range, while Social Studies emerged as the best-performing subject, with 81.21% of candidates securing top passes.

WAEC cautioned the public against fraudsters who claim they can upgrade examination results for a fee. The Council stressed that its database remains secure and that results can only be verified through official WAEC channels.
The examination body also expressed appreciation to all stakeholders involved in the successful conduct and release of the results. This includes supervisors, invigilators, examiners, and other partners who contributed to ensuring the smooth administration of the examination.
WAEC reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the integrity of its examinations and ensuring that credible and transparent processes are upheld across all member countries.
The provisional results are now available through official WAEC platforms, pending the completion of investigations into the withheld cases.
