The Western Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects who were captured in a viral video allegedly assaulting two teenagers and forcing them to engage in sexual intercourse in Effiakuma.
According to a police statement, the suspects — Edward Azalekor, 52, and Martin Amuzu, 35 — were picked up on Thursday, February 26, 2026. Police say Martin Amuzu is an uncle to the 17-year-old female victim.

The arrests followed the circulation of a disturbing WhatsApp video reportedly received from Connect 97.1 FM in Takoradi. In the footage, which has since gone viral on social media, the suspects are seen allegedly forcing the two teenagers — a 13-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl — to have sexual intercourse inside a shop. The act was reportedly carried out in the presence of others who were heard cheering, laughing, and recording the incident.
Preliminary police investigations suggest the incident stemmed from a domestic issue. Authorities say the teenage girl had left home on the afternoon of February 16, 2026, without informing her mother and returned later that night at about 7:40 pm. Her mother, reportedly angered by her absence, allegedly contacted Edward Azalekor, who serves as the Assemblyman for the Effiakuma West Electoral Area, to discipline her.
The police statement indicated that the suspects subsequently lured the teenage boy to the location and allegedly forced him to engage in sexual intercourse with the girl while they and others looked on.
The two accused persons were arraigned before the Harbor District Court on Friday, February 27, 2026. The court granted them bail in the sum of GHC 20,000 each. They are expected to reappear before the court on Thursday, March 5, 2026.
Police further disclosed that the female victim is currently in the custody of the Department of Social Welfare, where she is receiving care and support.
Investigations are ongoing to apprehend a third suspect, Isaac Nana Osei, who allegedly filmed the act and is currently on the run. Authorities say efforts are underway to locate and arrest him to assist with the ongoing investigation.
