Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been charged with two additional counts of rape, further intensifying the legal proceedings he is currently facing in the United Kingdom.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has authorised the new charges, adding to the existing case against the 32-year-old footballer. Partey is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday, March 13, in connection with the fresh allegations.

Partey had previously denied five counts of rape and one charge of sexual assault when he appeared before Southwark Crown Court in September last year. The alleged offences are said to have taken place between 2021 and 2022.
At the time the initial charges were brought, Partey was a first-team regular for Arsenal in the Premier League. He was formally charged four days after leaving the north London club following the expiration of his contract at the end of June.
The Ghanaian international is currently on bail and is expected to face trial beginning November 2. The conditions of his bail allow him to continue playing professional football. However, he must notify police at least 24 hours in advance of any international travel and is prohibited from contacting the complainants.
Partey now plays for Spanish La Liga side Villarreal, having moved after his departure from Arsenal. Despite the ongoing legal case, he remains an active figure in professional football.
The additional charges authorised by the CPS significantly expand the scope of the case, which has attracted widespread attention both in the United Kingdom and internationally, particularly in Ghana where Partey is regarded as one of the country’s top footballers.
Legal proceedings are expected to continue in the coming months, with the court set to address the new allegations during his upcoming appearance in March. The November trial date remains in place as matters stand.

Partey also remains a key member of the Ghana national team, which is scheduled to face England in the World Cup group stages in the United States on June 23. His availability for international duty will depend on bail conditions and any further court directives.
As with all criminal cases, the charges against Partey remain allegations until proven in court. The footballer has consistently denied the accusations brought against him.
The case continues to develop, with further updates expected following his appearance at Westminster Magistrates’ Court.
