Stolen Baby Recovered at Mamprobi Polyclinic

A baby who was reportedly stolen from Mamprobi Polyclinic in Accra has been safely recovered following a swift operation by the Ghana Police Service. A female suspect is currently in custody as investigations continue.

The infant was allegedly taken from the health facility on Tuesday, February 18, in Mamprobi within the Ablekuma South constituency. The alarming incident prompted an immediate response from the police after hospital authorities and the child’s family reported the case.

Law enforcement officers quickly launched a search operation to trace the whereabouts of the baby. Through coordinated efforts and community collaboration, the child was successfully located and rescued within a short period.

The identity of the suspect has not yet been publicly disclosed. Authorities have indicated that investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident, including how the suspect gained access to the baby within the healthcare facility.

The recovery operation was supported by the Member of Parliament for Ablekuma South, Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije, who played a key role in coordinating efforts between the police, community members, and the distressed family. His involvement helped streamline communication and ensure swift action during the rescue process.

Following the recovery, the MP accompanied officials to the clinic to ensure the safe return of the infant to the facility. Upon arrival at Mamprobi Polyclinic, medical personnel immediately conducted a thorough assessment of the baby’s condition.

Doctors have confirmed that the child is currently stable and receiving treatment as a precautionary measure. The infant remains under close observation to ensure there are no underlying health concerns arising from the ordeal.

Also present at the clinic after the baby’s recovery was the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Agnes Naa Momo Lartey. She expressed relief at the safe return of the child and commended the police and all stakeholders for their prompt and coordinated intervention.

The Minister emphasised the importance of child protection and the need for heightened vigilance within health facilities to prevent similar incidents in the future.
