Ghanaian dancehall superstar Shatta Wale has publicly apologised to celebrated hypeman and MC Kojo Manuel following an unexpected incident at last Saturday’s Tidal Rave beach festival.
The highly charged moment occurred when Shatta Wale’s head of security, popularly known as Abonko, forcefully pushed Kojo Manuel off the stage during the artiste’s grand entrance.

The incident quickly became a topic of public discussion, with many fans expressing disappointment while others sought clarification on what had actually happened. In a bid to address the concerns and promote unity, Shatta Wale took to X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, November 17, to issue a lengthy and heartfelt apology.
In his message, the “Street Crown” hitmaker expressed deep regret over the situation. He clarified that Abonko, though stern while on duty, is one of the most respectful and kindhearted individuals on his team. However, Wale emphasised that when it comes to work, his team operates with strict discipline and hierarchy — and in this case, Abonko was only trying to maintain order during a high-energy stage entry.
“Kojo Manuel, so sorryyy,” Shatta Wale wrote. “Abonko is the most nicest person ever, but when it comes to my work, all my team members bow because he is my second in command… Sorry he pushed you, but next time just know it when an artiste and team step on stage.”
Shatta Wale went on to thank DJ Vyrusky, who coordinated the entry plan, noting that the sequence and timing of stage movement is critical for safety and performance flow. He acknowledged that the confusion stemmed from miscommunication and stressed the need for all industry players to respect stage protocols, especially during major events where multiple performers and crew members are involved.
The dancehall star also urged the entertainment community to treat the incident as a learning experience rather than an opportunity for conflict. His post emphasised peace, collaboration and maturity, encouraging stakeholders to focus on elevating Ghana’s music industry instead of fueling unnecessary tensions.
“All love bro,” he added. “This is how we can all learn and not fight ourselves to show the world. I don’t support what he did, neither you, but let’s learn from this peaceful letter. I just want to say a big sorry to you and your team.”

Kojo Manuel, widely regarded as one of Ghana’s leading hypemen, has yet to issue an official response. However, fans have commended Shatta Wale for addressing the incident promptly and respectfully. Many have described his apology as a show of leadership and growth within the industry.
The Tidal Rave incident serves as a reminder of the importance of clear communication, stage management, and professionalism during live events. As Ghana’s music culture continues to grow, moments like these highlight the need for stronger backstage coordination and mutual respect among artistes, DJs, MCs, and security teams.
Shatta Wale’s apology has largely been received positively, with fans hopeful that the gesture will strengthen relationships and prevent similar occurrences in the future.
