NSA to Clear NSS Allowance Arrears This Week

The National Service Authority (NSA) has assured National Service Personnel (NSP) that outstanding allowance arrears will be cleared by the end of this week following the completion of an ongoing verification process.

In a press release dated 17 February 2026 and signed by Director-General Ruth Dela Seddoh, the Authority reaffirmed its commitment to the timely payment of stipends, acknowledging concerns raised by personnel over recent delays.

“The Management of the National Service Authority (NSA) wishes to assure all National Service Personnel (NSP) and stakeholders that concrete steps are being taken to expedite the payment of outstanding allowances owed to legitimate Service Personnel,” the statement said.

Management emphasised that allowances are essential in supporting personnel throughout their mandatory service year, noting that every service member deserves to receive their rightful stipends promptly.

According to the statement, the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department (CAGD) advanced funds last week to cover two months of arrears. However, the delay in disbursement has been attributed to a verification exercise currently being conducted by the Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlement Systems Limited (GhIPSS).

Management explained that the verification process is necessary to ensure accuracy, eliminate discrepancies, and maintain financial integrity before payments are processed. The Authority stressed that this step is crucial in confirming that only verified and legitimate arrears are paid out.

“Management is committed to ensuring that all verified and legitimate arrears are cleared by close of this week,” the statement assured.

The NSA also expressed appreciation for the patience and resilience demonstrated by Service Personnel during the delay. It described their contributions to national development as significant and highly valued.

National Service remains a mandatory programme aimed at equipping graduates with practical experience while contributing to public sector and community development across the country. For many personnel, the monthly allowance serves as their primary financial support during the service year, making timely payment a critical concern.

The Authority indicated that further updates will be communicated through its official channels to keep personnel fully informed about the progress of payments.

With funds already advanced and verification nearing completion, service personnel across the country are expected to receive their arrears before the week concludes, bringing relief after weeks of uncertainty.
