Mr Beautiful Declares Ambition to Become Ghana’s Next President

Ghanaian Kumawood actor Clement Bonney, popularly known as Mr Beautiful, has publicly declared his ambition to become the next President of Ghana.

Speaking on the Daybreak Hitz show with Kwame Dadzie on Hitz FM on Wednesday, March 4, the actor made the bold declaration when asked whether he had any interest in occupying a political position.

“Yes, I want to become the next president. Who doesn’t want to be birthed by a rich person?” he said, using the analogy to emphasise the importance of dreaming big and aspiring to greater heights.

His response appeared to surprise the host, who sought clarification on whether he would prefer to begin his political journey from a lower office before aiming for the presidency.

In response, Mr Beautiful explained that leadership is a gradual process that requires preparation and growth over time.

“Becoming means a process. I’ll go through certain processes to become. So starting from somewhere is part of the process,” he noted.

When further pressed on where he would like to start, the actor suggested that serving as a Member of Parliament could be a realistic first step.

“Somewhere like an MP is possible. If I have the resources and my community and my constituency think that I can serve them better, I’ll go. Why not?” he stated confidently.

Mr Beautiful emphasised that he does not believe in waiting for the “right time” before pursuing one’s dreams. According to him, ambition should not be delayed by fear or uncertainty.

“I’m not the kind of people who say, ‘Oh, it’s not time to start something.’ Dream big, start now, start small,” he added.

His remarks contribute to the growing trend of Ghanaian entertainers expressing interest in political leadership. In recent years, several figures within the creative arts industry have ventured into politics or shown interest in public office, reflecting the increasing intersection between entertainment and governance in Ghana.

While Mr Beautiful did not outline specific policy positions or timelines for his political journey, his declaration signals a clear intention to transition from the film industry into national leadership.

Whether his ambition materialises into a formal political campaign remains to be seen, but his comments have already sparked conversations about the role of entertainers in shaping Ghana’s political future.
