The Ghana Education Service (GES) has dismissed the Assistant Headmaster (Academic) of KNUST Senior High School, Mr Charles Akwasi Aidoo, after a viral video showed him in a compromising situation with a female student.
The disturbing footage, which circulated widely on social media, triggered outrage among parents, educators, and the general public, prompting swift action from the GES.

In a statement issued on Monday, September 29, 2025, the GES said it views the matter with “utmost seriousness” and has taken immediate steps to safeguard students and uphold professional standards in Ghanaian schools.
“Mr Aidoo has already been removed from office, and prohibited from going to the school while thorough investigations are being carried out,” the statement, signed by GES Head of Public Relations, Daniel Fenyi, said.
The service further assured parents, stakeholders, and the public that the appropriate disciplinary processes were being followed.
“The appropriate disciplinary action will be taken in accordance with the code of conduct of the Ghana Education Service,” the statement added.
The GES reiterated its unwavering commitment to the protection of students, stating that misconduct of this nature would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
“The GES remains committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and child protection in all our schools. We strongly condemn any acts that compromise the safety, dignity, and well-being of students,” the statement emphasized.
The service assured stakeholders that any educator who fails to meet professional standards will be held accountable, reinforcing its pledge to provide a safe learning environment across all schools in Ghana.
The video sparked widespread concern, with many calling for stricter monitoring and enforcement of professional conduct among teachers and school administrators. Parents and advocacy groups have urged the Ministry of Education and GES to intensify background checks, counselling, and monitoring systems to prevent such incidents from recurring.
Child rights activists have also highlighted the need for continuous education on ethics and safeguarding within the teaching profession, stressing that incidents like this undermine trust in Ghana’s education system.
Although Mr Aidoo has been dismissed from his role, the GES confirmed that a thorough investigation is ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident and to ensure justice is served. The outcome of the probe will guide further sanctions in accordance with established laws and professional codes.

Cases of misconduct within Ghana’s schools, though rare, continue to draw attention whenever they surface. Education experts note that such scandals risk tarnishing the reputation of institutions that have built strong legacies of academic excellence, such as KNUST SHS.
The latest development serves as a reminder of the importance of safeguarding protocols, proper supervision, and continuous training for school staff to ensure professionalism and accountability.
The GES emphasized that it will continue to collaborate with stakeholders, including parents, law enforcement agencies, and civil society groups, to uphold discipline and promote child safety.
As investigations continue, the service assured the public that its actions will prioritize the well-being of students while maintaining transparency in addressing the incident.
The dismissal of Mr Charles Akwasi Aidoo sends a strong message that Ghana’s educational authorities remain resolute in their fight against misconduct, vowing to preserve the integrity of the teaching profession and the sanctity of schools.
