Tourism Ministry Sets Record Straight on Official Name to End Public Confusion

The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts (MoTCCA) has officially clarified its name following growing public confusion and inconsistent references in the media.

In a statement signed by Mabel Delassie Awuku, Head of Public Relations, the Ministry firmly reiterated that the correct and legally recognized name of the institution is “Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts (MoTCCA).”

According to the release, the name reflects the Ministry’s broadened mandate, which includes the full integration of the creative arts sector alongside tourism and culture as pillars of Ghana’s national development strategy.

“Management has noted that the Ministry is being referred to by multiple names across various media outlets and in public discussions,” the statement read. “We wish to state emphatically that the official and legally recognized name of the Ministry is: Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts (MoTCCA).

This clarification comes after multiple news agencies and commentators began referring to the Ministry by alternate or shortened names such as “Ministry of Tourism and Culture” or “Ministry of Creative Arts,” leading to public misunderstanding and administrative misrepresentation.

MoTCCA emphasized that restoring the Ministry’s full name is part of a larger effort to reposition the creative arts as a major economic contributor. Since its re-establishment, the Ministry has launched several programs to support artists, filmmakers, and musicians, while also modernizing tourism infrastructure and protecting Ghana’s cultural heritage.

Awuku’s statement further urged media houses, event organizers, and the general public to adopt the proper name across all communications, press releases, and public engagements.

“This name reinstates the original identity of the Ministry at the time of its creation and aligns with its renewed vision. The public is kindly encouraged to refer to the Ministry accordingly,” it added.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to Ghana’s cultural promotion, tourism development, and creative economic growth, calling for continued stakeholder collaboration to achieve national pride and prosperity.

By setting the record straight, MoTCCA hopes to eliminate branding inconsistencies and ensure that its messaging across sectors remains coherent and impactful—especially in a digital era where precision in government communication is vital.

This directive also reflects Ghana’s broader efforts to harmonize public sector identity and strengthen trust between government institutions and citizens through clear and consistent communication.

As the Ministry forges ahead with landmark projects in the creative arts and tourism sectors, its clarified identity is expected to serve as a foundation for improved stakeholder engagement and national recognition.
