Selina Boateng Says Gym Is for Health, Not Weight Loss

Ghanaian gospel singer Selina Boateng has opened up about her fitness routine and body image, making it clear that her trips to the gym are not about shedding weight but about staying healthy and maintaining her body.

Speaking in an interview on the Hitz Praise Zone with Nii Noi, the award-winning gospel artiste addressed years of body-shaming and criticism that have followed her career. According to Selina, she has grown accustomed to negative comments about her weight and now takes them lightly.

“I have no intention of losing weight,” she said firmly. “I just want to maintain my body and keep it in shape.”

Selina explained that she no longer allows trolls or critics on social media to affect her emotionally. Instead, she chooses to focus on her faith and her purpose as a gospel minister.

“I am not moved by what people say because I believe God created me beautifully,” she added.

Her statement comes after a series of online trolls targeted her in the past, particularly when videos of her struggling to get up during a praise ministration went viral. At the time, she stated she was not embarrassed because her focus was on God, not on people’s opinions.

Selina Boateng has earned recognition as one of Ghana’s most powerful gospel voices, with hit songs such as Alpha and Omega featuring Uncle Ato, Menku Meho, Medofo Pa, and Eda Papa. Her music continues to inspire many within and outside the church, cementing her reputation in the Ghanaian gospel industry.

By addressing body-shaming openly, Selina has once again positioned herself as an artiste who is authentic, faith-driven, and resilient, encouraging fans and critics alike to focus on substance over appearance.
