Ghanaian Rapper Dsavv Arrested in France After Daring Police Online

A 21-year-old Ghanaian rapper known as Dsavv has been arrested in France after briefly evading authorities in the United Kingdom and taunting police on social media.

The musician, whose real name is Daniel Boakye, was reportedly captured in the small French town of La Bouëxière, bringing his short-lived run from the law to an end.

Boakye had initially escaped from Lewisham Hospital in south-east London, where he had been taken for medical treatment while serving a prison sentence. According to reports, the escape occurred on February 15 when the rapper allegedly fled custody at around 3:05 p.m. despite attempts by officers to stop him before he left the hospital premises.

Following the escape, the fugitive took to social media where he posted several videos mocking authorities and daring them to catch him. In the widely circulated clips, Boakye appeared relaxed and confident, claiming he would never return to prison and would not allow himself to be deported back to Ghana. The posts quickly gained attention online and intensified efforts by authorities to locate him.

The search for the rapper soon turned into an international manhunt involving British and European law enforcement agencies. A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police Service confirmed that officers were actively searching for the suspect after he absconded from the hospital.

Investigations eventually led authorities to La Bouëxière, a small French town with a population of roughly 5,000 residents. French police reportedly arrested Boakye on March 2, 2026, after alerting British authorities about his location. Arrangements are now underway for his transfer back to the United Kingdom to continue serving his sentence.

Boakye’s legal troubles date back to 2023 when he was sentenced to six years and five months in prison for his involvement in a robbery gang operating in the UK. According to investigators, members of the group targeted victims at knifepoint and forced them to reveal passcodes to their mobile phones.

Authorities said the gang stole cryptocurrency worth approximately £115,000 from several victims. In addition to the digital theft, they also reportedly used victims’ bank details to pay for taxi rides and purchase mobile phone top-up vouchers.

The case attracted significant attention due to the combination of violent robbery tactics and the use of digital assets such as cryptocurrency. Law enforcement agencies have increasingly warned about criminal groups exploiting technology and digital finance systems to carry out sophisticated theft operations.

Boakye’s escape and his subsequent social media posts added another dramatic twist to the case. While his online videos initially drew curiosity and reactions from followers, they also helped keep public attention on the ongoing search.

With his arrest now confirmed, the rapper’s brief attempt to evade authorities has come to an abrupt end. Once extradited back to the United Kingdom, he is expected to continue serving the remainder of his prison sentence while authorities review the circumstances surrounding his escape from custody.
