Relatives of Ghanaian highlife icon Daddy Lumba, born Charles Kwadwo Fosu, have issued a two-week ultimatum to their family head, demanding full disclosure regarding the late musician’s burial and funeral arrangements.
The decision was taken during a family gathering held at Paakoso in the Ashanti Region, where tensions reportedly escalated over the conduct of the Abusuapanin, identified as Kofi Owusu, following the musician’s death. Members of the family expressed concerns about leadership decisions made in the wake of the singer’s passing and called for transparency on key matters surrounding the funeral.
In a video from the meeting, some relatives accused the Abusuapanin—also referred to as Tupac—of damaging the family’s reputation through both his actions and alleged inaction. The women of the family, traditionally regarded as influential figures in Ashanti customary leadership structures, reportedly indicated their intention to seek his removal, arguing that he had not met their expectations.
Speaking to the gathering, Reverend George Agyemang announced that the family head has until 11 March 2026 to respond to their summons. He stated that the Abusuapanin must appear before the family to address several pressing issues.
“The Abusuapanin has two weeks to appear before us and answer our questions,” he said. “Among the key issues are the exact burial place of Daddy Lumba, the identity of his appointed heir, and a full account of the funeral arrangements he oversaw. There are additional concerns, but these three are paramount.”
He further clarified that the ultimatum began on 25 February 2026 and will expire on 11 March 2026. Should the family head fail to comply within the stipulated timeframe, the relatives indicated they would proceed with steps to remove him from his position.
The dispute has since attracted significant attention online.
