Nigerian award-winning singer Yemi Alade has opened up about her personal life, revealing that she is ready to settle down soon because she doesn’t want to live a lonely life despite her demanding music career.
In an interview with Chude, the “Johnny” hitmaker shared her dream of having a private wedding ceremony on a quiet, secluded island — far from the public eye and media attention.

“This industry is already a lonely place. I’m not about to live my actual life lonely. I dream of having a private wedding on one coded island like that,” she said.
Yemi Alade reflected on her rise to stardom, recalling how she built her brand through hard work, perseverance, and independence rather than relying on others to open doors for her.
She recounted performing at over 300 free shows during her early career to gain exposure, experience, and recognition in Nigeria’s competitive entertainment industry.
“I didn’t need the stars ahead of me to hand me a baton. I made my own lane. There’s space for me,” she noted proudly.
The “Queen of Afrobeats” also addressed a common belief that Nigerian artistes need international collaborations to succeed globally, saying she defied that notion by achieving worldwide recognition through her authentic African sound and creative vision.
“Word on the street says you have to have one Western collaboration before you blow, but I didn’t,” she said.

Yemi Alade’s reflections highlight her resilience and self-determination, qualities that have made her one of Africa’s most celebrated female artistes.
Her comments have since sparked conversations on social media about love, privacy, and the sacrifices that come with fame, especially for women in the entertainment industry.
As she continues to dominate global stages, Yemi Alade says she looks forward to balancing her thriving career with a fulfilling personal life — one that includes love, peace, and a beautiful private wedding by the sea.
