Yaw Tog Opens Up About His Biggest Mistake After ‘Sore’ Fame

Speaking in an interview with Kula, monitored by ONEKING MULTIMEDIA on Monday, October 13, Ghanaian rapper Yaw Tog opened up about the lessons he learned from his rapid rise to fame.

The “Sore” hitmaker admitted that while his breakthrough brought him immense success and global recognition, it also attracted people who did not have genuine intentions.

Yaw Tog, who burst onto the scene in 2020 with his street anthem “Sore” featuring O’Kenneth, City Boy, Reggie, and Jay Bahd, became an international sensation when the remix featuring Stormzy and Kwesi Arthur pushed Ghana’s Asakaa (drill) movement onto the global stage.

However, looking back, the young rapper described his biggest mistake as letting too many people share his spotlight.

“My worst experience is allowing too many people to also be in the spotlight with me when ‘Sore’ was on,” he confessed. “Because all those people, they’re not around anymore.”

He clarified that his comments were not directed at the artistes featured on the record but rather at those who surrounded him during his rise to fame.

“It’s not about the people on the song, but everybody that came around me at that time,” he explained.

Yaw Tog’s reflections shed light on the realities of sudden fame — a reminder that success often comes with new challenges in trust, loyalty, and influence. For many young artistes, navigating those pressures can be as difficult as achieving stardom itself.

The rapper’s candid reflection has resonated with many fans who admire his honesty and growth. Since his breakout, Yaw Tog has continued to evolve musically and personally, focusing on creating meaningful songs and surrounding himself with a more trustworthy team.

His experience serves as a powerful reminder to young creatives about the importance of staying grounded and protecting one’s energy in the entertainment industry.

Yaw Tog emphasized that fame can be fleeting, but character and self-awareness are what sustain longevity. As he continues his journey, he hopes to inspire others to learn from his story and remain true to themselves.
