The Table of Men, a Christian advocacy group committed to promoting gospel music and its artistes, has clarified the terms under which it offers promotional support, especially in major award schemes like the Telecel Ghana Music Awards.
In recent times, critics have questioned the group’s noticeable silence in supporting some gospel nominees for the Artiste of the Year category. Notably, concerns were raised regarding the group’s minimal involvement in promoting Nacee during his 2024 nomination, and similarly, their quiet stance on Team Eternity Ghana and Joe Mettle in the 2025 edition.

Addressing the matter in an interview on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz with Andy Dosty, the President of the Table of Men, Kwasi Ernest, provided clarity on the issue. He stressed that the group does not offer unsolicited support and that artistes or their management teams must engage the group formally if they desire assistance.
“The Table of Men cannot just jump onto the streets, radio stations and platforms to begin campaigning for someone who has received an Artiste of the Year nomination simply because they are a gospel artiste,” he explained.
Kwasi Ernest noted that the group expects gospel artistes and their teams to actively seek collaboration and create a strategic plan for campaign activation. He added that the group comprises industry professionals and influencers, but their efforts must be matched with interest and commitment from the artistes themselves.
“If the nominee in question and their management realise that there are leaders, people who are influential in the Table of Men, and decide to meet us to draw a plan to actually campaign and support our activation, why not? We are a family. We will do it,” he added.
Using a metaphor to stress their stance, he stated:
“The Table of Men will not go and climb a tree when the person who has received the nomination is sleeping comfortably in his 16 inches bed. It doesn’t work like that.”
Kwasi Ernest also used the platform to dispel rumours that the Table of Men had disbanded, assuring the public that the group has only taken a temporary break and plans to return stronger and more strategic.

The Table of Men has previously played a pivotal role in rallying support for gospel artistes such as Diana Hamilton and Piesie Esther, contributing to their success at past music awards. As the gospel music landscape evolves, the group’s insistence on structured collaboration marks a shift towards more professional advocacy in the genre.
