Stonebwoy’s Team Slams DJ Lord Over Shatta Wale Song Ban Claims

Burniton Music Group’s Head of Communications, Vida Adutwumwaa Boateng, has strongly dismissed claims that Stonebwoy’s management ordered a DJ to stop playing Shatta Wale’s songs during the 2025 Accravaganza event.

Her reaction follows a statement by DJ Lord OTB, who took to social media on April 1, 2025, alleging that a top official from Stonebwoy’s camp instructed him to cease playing Shatta Wale’s music during his set.

In his post, DJ Lord claimed that while playing his DJ set alongside Merqury Quaye, he included some popular Shatta Wale tracks to keep the crowd engaged. However, he alleged that a Burniton Music representative intervened and asked him to immediately stop playing Shatta Wale’s music.

“During my DJ set alongside Merqury Quaye, I included some essential tracks of Shatta Wale into our playlist, an artist whose music forms the backbone of any Ghanaian musical experience. The crowd’s energy confirmed we were on the right track until a top Board official of the show intervened. At the behest of Stonebwoy’s management, I was instructed to cease playing Shatta Wale’s music immediately,” DJ Lord claimed.

Reacting to these allegations, Vida Adutwumwaa Boateng labeled them completely false, urging DJ Lord to issue a public apology.

“We are just tired of these unfounded allegations, always trying to smear Stonebwoy’s brand. Every time there’s something positive to celebrate about Stonebwoy, a negative story emerges. We are giving DJ Lord the opportunity to apologize,” she said in an interview on Daybreak Hitz with Andy Dosty.

She further emphasized that Stonebwoy and his team are focused on pushing Ghanaian music globally and will not entertain smear campaigns.

“We are a very focused brand, committed to excellence. We refuse to be distracted by false narratives and trivial controversies,” Vida added.

Interestingly, DJ Lord has since changed his stance, now claiming that it was not Stonebwoy’s team but rather a Guinness Ghana official who relayed the message.

Vida Adutwumwaa Boateng, however, is not letting the matter rest. She has challenged DJ Lord to publicly reveal the name of the person who instructed him to spread the allegation.

“So, Lord, whoever gave you that instruction, I dare you to put out their name. After that, apologize to Stonebwoy because you know deep down that no one from our team approached you,” she stated.

In her final remarks, Vida stressed that Burniton Music Group will no longer tolerate false accusations aimed at tarnishing Stonebwoy’s brand.

With DJ Lord now shifting blame, it remains to be seen whether he will issue the apology Stonebwoy’s team demands, or if this controversy will continue to escalate. One thing is clear—Stonebwoy’s camp is done playing defense and ready to fight back against any smear campaigns.
