Gospel musician Piesie Esther has refuted claims suggesting she is not on good terms with fellow gospel star Empress Gifty, insisting that their relationship remains cordial.
Speculations began after an interview on Power FM on Saturday, September 13, 2025, when host Agyeman Prempeh asked Piesie to mention who won Artiste of the Year at the 2025 Ghana Music Awards USA. Piesie initially hesitated before eventually naming Empress Gifty, sparking social media discussions about a possible rift between the two.
When asked whether she had congratulated Empress on her win, Piesie pointed out that when she herself won Artiste of the Year at the 2023 Ghana Music Awards Europe, no one congratulated her. The comment fueled public speculation about tension between the two gospel musicians.
However, speaking on Daybreak Hitz with Doreen Avio and Kwame Dadzie on Hitz FM, Piesie Esther explained her reasons and dismissed the rumours.
“The reason I didn’t want to mention Empress’s name on Agyeman’s show was that when she won the award people said a lot about it. Some said she deserved it, others said otherwise. By God’s grace the controversy died down, so the moment you raise it again then you want it to escalate. That was why I didn’t want to bring her into the conversation,” she said.
Piesie further emphasized that she holds no grudges:
“I don’t have any problem with Empress Gifty. I don’t know anyone who can boldly say I have an issue with him or her. It will not happen. I have a good relationship with Gifty. We talk.”
Meanwhile, Piesie Esther has released a new single titled “Nyame Ye,” which is already gaining massive attention and winning the hearts of gospel music lovers.
Her clarification is expected to put to rest growing rumours, reassuring fans that unity still prevails within Ghana’s gospel music industry.
