Award-winning Ghanaian rapper and singer Medikal has reacted to his nomination in the Artiste of the Year category at the 27th edition of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards, urging the awards board to ensure fairness in determining the eventual winner.
The artiste, whose real name is Samuel Adu Frimpong, delivered the message during a performance at the Kumawu Papa Nantwie Festival concert held in the Ashanti Region in the early hours of Sunday, March 15, 2026.

While addressing fans during his set, Medikal revealed that he had secured nominations in several categories at this year’s awards, including the highly competitive Artiste of the Year category.
According to the rapper, his work rate, musical output and overall impact within the year under review make him a strong contender for the prestigious award.
In a passionate moment on stage, Medikal called on the crowd to help him send a message to the TGMA board, insisting that the selection process should be free from favouritism.
Using the phrase “No Libilibi No Labalaba,” the rapper emphasised that the award must be decided purely on merit.
“You know they have nominated me for TGMA awards, including the Artiste of the Year. And we all know last year I worked more than everybody in that category. So tell them that ‘No Libilibi No Labalaba’ for the Artiste of the Year award. I outperformed every artiste the whole of last year,” he told the cheering crowd during the performance.
The Telecel Ghana Music Awards announced the nominees for the 27th edition on Saturday, March 14, during a special unveiling event, officially kicking off the awards season.
This year’s Artiste of the Year category features some of the biggest names in Ghanaian music, including Black Sherif, Stonebwoy, Wendy Shay, Sarkodie, Diana Hamilton and Medikal himself.
Following the announcement of nominees, public voting has officially opened, with fans already rallying support online and across various platforms for their favourite artistes and songs.
