Lil Win Faces Final Court Warning in GH₵5M Defamation Case

Ghanaian actor and comedian Lil Win, born Kwadwo Nkansah, has been issued a final warning by the Accra High Court for allegedly delaying the resolution of a GH₵5 million defamation lawsuit filed against him by celebrated actress Martha Ankomah.

The court’s warning followed Lil Win’s failure to appear in court on April 1, 2025, to sign agreed-upon settlement terms—a crucial step that would have brought the long-running case closer to resolution. According to GHOneTV reports, the actor had been instructed to present a formal, court-approved apology to Ankomah during the scheduled session.

However, his unexplained absence from the proceedings raised concerns and ultimately led to a stern directive from the presiding judge, emphasizing that further delays would not be tolerated.

The legal dispute began over a year ago when Lil Win published a video in which he made allegedly defamatory statements about Ankomah. Though he later issued a public apology, the actress rejected it, stating that the damage to her professional image and reputation had already been done.

On February 14, 2024, Ankomah filed a lawsuit seeking GH₵5 million in damages along with other forms of relief. The court has since been working with both parties and their legal teams to pursue an amicable settlement, aiming to resolve the matter without a prolonged trial.

Following a hearing on February 25, 2025, the case was adjourned to give Lil Win time to fulfill the required conditions, including the formal apology. His non-compliance as of the April 1 deadline has now placed him under direct scrutiny.

Coincidentally, the final warning from the court surfaced on April 15, which marked the actor’s 38th birthday. The timing of the news quickly made waves on social media, though Lil Win has yet to issue any public response to the development.

Meanwhile, Martha Ankomah has reiterated that her pursuit of the case is not about financial gain but about upholding integrity and accountability in public discourse.

“I don’t want a dime from him,” she stated in an interview with Nhyira FM. “I want him to do the right thing so people will know that you just can’t do things and get away with it in this country.”

As the legal clock ticks, all eyes are now on Lil Win to see whether he will comply with the court’s instructions or face further legal consequences.
