Efya’s Team Denies Secret Marriage Reports

The management of Ghanaian singer Efya, born Jane Fara Fauzzier Afia Awindor, has dismissed widespread reports suggesting that the award-winning artiste secretly tied the knot over the weekend.

Rumours began circulating on February 14, 2026, after videos and social media posts alleged that the singer had married Nigerian pop artiste Tomi Thomas during a private ceremony. The speculation quickly gained traction online, with many fans congratulating the pair based on the viral footage.

However, speaking exclusively to Adom FM on February 17, 2026, representatives for the singer firmly rejected the claims. According to her management team, no marriage ceremony has taken place.

They explained that the videos in question were recorded during an after-party following a traditional “knocking” ceremony — a customary pre-marital rite observed in many Ghanaian cultures. A knocking ceremony, they noted, does not automatically signify the completion of marriage rites and does not legally or traditionally confirm a union unless the full customary process has been concluded.

“The whole thing was not supposed to come out. I am wondering why someone would share the videos,” a representative stated during the interview. “Do you know how many people have knocking ceremonies and nothing happens afterwards? So why would people call it a marriage? The family has not concluded the process, and this could even create unnecessary pressure.”

Some reports had claimed that the alleged ceremony took place at a private residence in Trassaco Phase II, an upscale neighbourhood in Accra. The management, however, described the circulating reports as unfounded and premature.

They emphasised that the footage was never intended for public circulation and expressed concern that its release had led to misinterpretation and unnecessary public scrutiny. According to the team, such speculation could place undue pressure on both the artiste and her family.

Efya, known for her powerful vocals and numerous accolades in Ghana’s music industry, has largely kept her personal life private. Her management reiterated that she remains focused on her music career and upcoming projects.

For now, representatives are urging the public and media outlets to disregard the viral claims and avoid drawing conclusions based on incomplete cultural processes.

As discussions continue online, the singer’s team maintains that no wedding has occurred and that the rumours surrounding her alleged marriage should be treated as misinformation.
