Camidoh Reacts to TGMA Snub, Open to Performing

Ghanaian singer Camidoh has responded to his absence from the nominees list for the Telecel Ghana Music Awards, stating that he remains open to performing at the event if given the opportunity.

Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM on Monday, April 7, the “Sugarcane” hitmaker expressed optimism about taking the stage at the prestigious awards ceremony, despite not receiving a nomination this year.

“I mean, I hope it comes through. I hope the offer comes and it comes with good money to be able to build our set and do amazing,” he said.

Camidoh highlighted the financial demands involved in delivering high-quality performances, noting that staging an impressive show often requires significant investment. According to him, this has been one of the major limitations faced by artistes within the Ghanaian music industry.

“I really have the goal of doing what I see and what I love. But there has always been a limitation on our end,” he explained.

He further acknowledged that funding challenges are not limited to artistes alone but also affect event organisers and producers, who must work within tight budgets to deliver large-scale productions.

“Ghana is difficult when it comes to directing funds into this because money truly does not come as it should. So you should also understand it from the perspective of the producers of shows,” he added.

Despite missing out on nominations, Camidoh maintained a positive outlook and emphasised his willingness to contribute to the success of the event. He noted that performing on such a platform would be an opportunity to showcase his craft and connect with fans.

“But for sure, if it comes to our table, why not? I’ll serve the country, man,” he said.

His comments reflect a broader conversation within Ghana’s music space about recognition, funding, and opportunities for artistes.

While award nominations remain a key measure of industry success, many artistes continue to focus on growth, performance, and global reach beyond award platforms.

As anticipation builds for this year’s Telecel Ghana Music Awards, fans will be watching closely to see whether Camidoh makes it onto the performance lineup, even without a nomination.
