Businessman and philanthropist Jelvis Kwame Baidoo, founder and Team Lead of the Jelvis Foundation, has received an invitation from organisers of Top Admired Leaders of 2026 in the United States of America to be featured in the publication.

Baidoo shared the development while responding to questions about why his work and community development efforts have not received recognition from some award schemes in Ghana.

In his statement, he said: “People often ask me, ‘Why don’t these award schemes recognize you in Ghana?’

“My answer is simple: ‘A prophet is not honored in his own country.’”

He added that he had received an email from the organisers of Top Admired Leaders of 2026 in the United States, which he believes reflects the attention being paid to the work of the Jelvis Foundation in Effia Kuma.

“I received this email from the organizers of Top Admired Leaders of 2026 in the United States of America. They have seen the works the Jelvis Foundation is doing in Effia Kuma. We’ll keep serving our community and making a difference, recognition or not,” he stated.

The invitation comes as the Jelvis Foundation continues to position community development as a central part of its work in Effia Kuma and surrounding communities.

The foundation’s activities have focused on initiatives intended to support young people, improve access to opportunities and contribute to local development. Its broader areas of interest include skills training, youth empowerment, education and community welfare.

Baidoo’s remarks suggest that, regardless of whether local award schemes recognise his efforts, he intends to continue supporting initiatives that address the needs of residents.

His reference to the saying, “A prophet is not honored in his own country,” reflects his view of the difference between recognition at home and attention from outside Ghana.

However, the email invitation should be understood as an invitation to be featured in Top Admired Leaders of 2026, rather than confirmation that Baidoo has received an award or that the publication has already featured him.

For the Jelvis Foundation, the statement reinforces its emphasis on community service and development rather than recognition alone.

Baidoo concluded that the foundation would continue its work in Effia Kuma, maintaining that making a difference in the community remains important, whether or not awards and public recognition follow.
