The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has published its official closing exchange rates for July 6, 2026, showing that the Ghana cedi remained largely stable against the US dollar while recording mixed performances against other major international currencies.
According to the central bank, the US dollar closed at a mid-rate of GH¢11.3900, compared with GH¢11.3895 recorded during the previous trading session on July 2, reflecting little change in the local currency’s performance.

The cedi, however, weakened slightly against the British pound sterling, with the pound closing at a mid-rate of GH¢15.2267, up from GH¢15.2124 in the previous session.
Against the euro, the local currency posted a marginal gain as the European currency eased to a mid-rate of GH¢13.0160, compared with GH¢13.0283 previously.
The Bank of Ghana also released official rates for several other major international currencies, including the Swiss franc, Canadian dollar, Australian dollar, Japanese yen, New Zealand dollar, Chinese yuan, Danish krone, Norwegian krone, Swedish krona and the South African rand.
In addition, the central bank published reference exchange rates for several African and regional currencies, including the Nigerian naira, Gambian dalasi, Mauritanian ouguiya, Sierra Leonean leone, BCEAO CFA franc, and the ECOWAS Unit of Account (WAU).
According to the Bank of Ghana, the official exchange rates are calculated using transaction data submitted daily by all banks operating in the country. The central bank computes a weighted median exchange rate from qualifying spot US dollar-to-cedi transactions completed before 3:30 p.m., including interbank and customer transactions valued at US$10,000 or more.

The published rates serve as benchmark reference rates for commercial banks, businesses, importers, exporters and investors, although retail exchange rates may differ across financial institutions.
