The U.S. Embassy in Accra has announced the availability of more than 2,000 visa appointment slots over the next two weeks for B1/B2 travellers. The newly opened slots are aimed at individuals planning business trips, visiting family, general tourism, or travelling to attend the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
In a statement shared through its official communication channels, the Embassy encouraged prospective applicants to take advantage of the additional appointments.

“We have more than 2,000 visa appointment slots available in the next two weeks for B1/B2 travellers — whether you’re planning a business trip, visiting family, general tourism, or wanting to watch the World Cup,” the statement read.
The announcement comes at a time when demand for U.S. visas remains high, particularly as anticipation builds for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The global football tournament has sparked significant travel interest among Ghanaian fans eager to witness the event live.
However, the Embassy clarified that the available appointment slots are not limited to World Cup travellers. They apply broadly to all eligible B1/B2 visa applicants seeking to travel for business or tourism purposes.
B1/B2 visas cover short-term travel for activities such as attending conferences, exploring tourism destinations, visiting relatives, or engaging in business meetings. Applicants are reminded that visa interviews must be scheduled exclusively through the official U.S. visa application website.
In addition, the Embassy advised individuals who already have appointments scheduled for later in the year to consider rescheduling to an earlier available date. This step is intended to help travellers fast-track their plans and reduce waiting times amid rising demand.

Prospective applicants are also urged to ensure they prepare all required documentation ahead of their interviews to avoid unnecessary delays. Proper documentation, including proof of travel purpose, financial capability, and ties to Ghana, remains essential for a successful application process.
With more than 2,000 appointment slots now open, the U.S. Embassy has emphasised the importance of early booking to secure a convenient interview date. Applicants are encouraged to regularly monitor official Embassy communication channels for updates and to strictly follow all outlined procedures to ensure a smooth application experience.
The move is expected to provide relief for many travellers who have been seeking earlier visa interview opportunities, particularly those planning time-sensitive trips in the coming months.
