Ghanaian musician Mzbel has finally broken her silence following the arrest of Prophet Jedidiah Henry Kore, popularly known as Fire Oja, by the Ghana Police Service over alleged defamatory statements made against her.
According to available reports, Fire Oja, who is the founder and leader of Zion Prayer Ministries International, was taken into police custody after Mzbel filed a formal complaint accusing him of making false and damaging claims about her in public.
In a viral video sighted by oneking multimedia online , on Tuesday, January 6, the outspoken musician explained that the pastor was invited by the police, arrested, and subsequently interrogated over remarks she described as harmful to her reputation and mental well-being.
Mzbel revealed that Fire Oja had publicly alleged that she was seriously ill and hospitalised after a supposed failed “soul travel,” a claim she strongly denied. She further stated that the pastor made additional comments and threats that she considered an attack on her integrity and psychological health.
According to the musician, the matter was treated seriously by the police. She disclosed that during interrogation, Fire Oja admitted that he did not know her personally and conceded that his statements and actions were wrong.
“He admitted during questioning that he does not know me and acknowledged that what he did was wrong,” Mzbel said in the video.
Mzbel confirmed that the pastor has since been formally charged, and the case is currently being processed for court. Although Fire Oja has been granted bail in line with police procedures, he is expected to appear before the court once a date is scheduled.
Addressing public reactions, Mzbel stressed that her decision to involve law enforcement was not motivated by hatred or vengeance. Instead, she said it was a necessary step to protect her reputation, integrity, and mental health, adding that no one should be allowed to make unfounded claims that could damage another person’s life.
“This is not about malice. Every citizen has the right to seek justice when their name and peace of mind are attacked,” she emphasised.
The singer also used the opportunity to commend the Ghana Police Service for their professionalism in handling the matter. She reminded the public that law enforcement agencies exist to protect all citizens, regardless of their social status, influence, or public profile.
The case has since generated widespread discussion on social media, reigniting conversations about defamation, accountability, and responsible speech, particularly by public figures and religious leaders.
As the legal process continues, Mzbel’s action is being viewed by many as a strong message against the spread of unverified claims and the misuse of influence, while reaffirming the importance of the rule of law in protecting individual rights in Ghana.
